Is Subversive Subliminal Advertising Real?

Now as disturbing and unbelievable as it may seem, (and every bone in your body will want to simply disregard it)… I think this book is definitely worth a read…

Where the author is coming from…

August Bullock is actually an attorney at law. However, that's not where he is coming from in the book. Rather, he developed a keen interest in the topic of subliminal advertising after returning from an extended trip over seas.

Upon returning his senses weren't so “numbed” to advertising. He began to see what others were not seeing in advertising. Then he read the book, Subliminal Seduction. And his interest deepened.

He began to collect and analyze various advertisements over the years, and studied subliminal theory as well the research experiments on subliminal and psychological theory.

He outlines his finding in the book.

What you can expect…

The author begins the book by giving you a bit of history on subliminal advertising. According to the book, initial attempts were crude at best. But after WWII the advertising industry spent billions in “motivational research”. And from that research developed very cunning and effective techniques in the use of subliminals in advertising.

He then covers psychological and subliminal theory. He is explains in great detail how psychological theory and subliminal science is merged to create the desired effect…

… And what I like most is how he backs up the theory with numerous scientific studies throughout the book.

The bulk of the rest of the book the author shows numerous examples of subliminal advertising and breaks it down element by element why and how the advertisers were using subliminals to create their desired effect.

… Very chilling indeed!

My take...

Overall, this book was rather chilling to read, and you will be disturbed by it. Many will simply want to disregard it as conspiracy.

But I must tell you, this is something I believe you should be very aware of. Or you'll simply be at the mercy of these crafty, cunning advertising techniques.

The author does an excellent job of backing up his findings with scientific study after study that highlights his point. And while some of the examples in the book were a little ambiguous, most were compelling and could not be disregarded by any reasonable individual.

This is certainly something the advertising industry would want to keep under wraps.

Anyone interested in subliminal advertising and psychological theory.

Anyone who would rather not be at the mercy of these cunning advertising techniques.

Anyone who wants to be aware of the psychological manipulation through media, how it's done, and what you can do about it.

Warning: You will be disturbed by this book. But in this case I do NOT believe ignorance is bliss. This is something I think you should all be aware of.
